The Young Professionals Association of Greater Sudbury is run by a board of volunteers who dedicate their time to foster a culture of community engagement, networking and professional development to empower emerging leaders and young professionals in Greater Sudbury. We wanted to take some time to introduce you to each of our board members in our Meet our Board blog series! Today we are introducing you to Lindsey Santerre. Lindsey is currently the Director of Advocacy.
Describe what you do?
I am a Criminal Lawyer and the owner of Santerre Legal Services, a Notary Public, Commissioner Services and other legal documentation focused business.
Was this the career you always envisioned for yourself? What inspired you?
I always wanted to become a police officer. I was always fascinated with the law. It inspired me to help others and be able to makes changes in the world.
Why did you decide to join the YPA and what do you hope to achieve while on the board?
I decided to join the YPA predominantly to give back to the community and to get involved within local organizations. I am currently the Director of Advocacy with the YPA and my goal is create a solid foundation of networking, workshops, personal or professional assistance and establish a strong presence within our community.
Do you have any advice for other young professionals?
Do what truly makes you happy. Do not be afraid to make that career change or book that trip.
What is your favourite local business?
Oh there are so many that I could not name just one. I love the Buddha, Tucos and Sixty Six.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I would love to practice law in South America. No more cold Canadian winters!
Favourite book of all time – why?
Haha for those of you who may remember my fun fact from Wine and Cheers… my favourite book is Twilight.
